“Rumah Nenek” is a reinterpretation of an inherited family home, reimagined as a gathering space for a large multi-generational family. The spatial layout was redesigned to include seven bedrooms, accommodating the needs of seven siblings whenever the family comes together, while the existing kitchen at the rear of the house was preserved as the heart of family activities. Through a simple mass composition, the use of honest materials, and minimal architectural detailing, the house evokes a warm and grounded atmosphere. Antique furniture inherited from the grandmother has also been carefully preserved as part of the home’s identity, carrying layers of memory and emotional connection that continue to live within the space to this day.
